Surprisingly, angling in the waters surrounding this notorious seaside resort is a rewarding and recommended activity which is experiencing an increasing popularity. A number of local operators are satisfying big game angling adventures among the visitors who travel to Pattaya for other pursuits, but this destination also offers the option of freshwater fishing, spear fishing, children fishing activities and even exciting competitions.

Ocean fishing trips from Pattaya typically fish for sting rays, queen fish, sail fish, marlin, barracuda, shark, cobia and other species. The freshwater fishing offered here is also excellent, and the ‘land of smiles’ is considered a global hotspot for carp. The most ideal time to go fishing here is during November. Vessels typically allow six persons onboard, and the fishing sport isn’t limited to advanced fishermen. Females have been managed to catch some impressive species, but participants do need to be quite fit and strong to battle a big shark. For conservation reasons you should however be prepared to cut and let go when you land some types of fish, especially shark.
