Most of Pattaya’s principal scuba diving playgrounds are positioned nearby the so called ‘Far Islands’, the second ring of isles approximately 15 miles away from Pattaya Beach. These islands which include: Koh Phai, Koh Hu Chang, Koh Klung Bedan, Koh Manwichai and Koh Rin are controlled by the Thai Navy. Any permanent tourism-related developments on these islands are prohibited.

The area boasts about 20 various diving sites which waters offer visibility of five to fifteen metres. Offered scuba diving courses last from one to four days, depending on the type of diving and the skills you want to learn. Two day speciality scuba dives operated from the seaside resort include night diving, wreck diving, underwater photography and deep diving. In general these two day dive trips costs between 8,000 and 9,000 baht. (165 and 185 euros)

Perhaps one of the city’s most reputed companies is the British owned Pattaya Dive Centre which is ideally positioned right on the beach front in Pattaya Beach Road’s centre. This company is stocked with the most comprehensive selection of diver’s gear which you won’t find anywhere else in Pattaya.

Each day at 09:00 boats making dive trips depart from the Pattaya Dive Centre. Participants have the option to hire Mares scuba equipment as well as bringing along their own gear. All excursions include lunch, transfers and two dives, supervised by a professional and experienced dive master.

Visit the Pattaya Dive Centre official website for detailed information.
