Ideally positioned along the Gulf of Thailand’s picturesque eastern coast, from Bangkok Pattaya City can be reached within a two-hour drive (99 miles). Transformed rapidly from a sleepy fishermen’s village in the 1960s into one of South East Asia’s most popular seaside resort towns, Pattaya offers sun-soaked beaches year-round.

Especially favoured among European holidaymakers, this bathing place provides a pulsating retreat where all types of tourists travel to in order to seek naughty entertainment or just unwind on one of the resort’s exotic beaches. Thailand’s touristy beach areas are divided into zones and usually owned by families, who are responsible of each section’s recreational activities, much similar to restaurants. Pattaya’s beach areas are in general free, but tourists will be charged for the various services they bought. The fee is about 50 baht or so per beach chair, though bargaining is rather common in the ‘Land of Smiles’.

Having a good time and relaxation is what a rewarding vacation is all about, and Pattaya’s beaches, particularly Jomtien Beach feature the most ideal setting to fully unwind. Until sundown you will find many fellow holidaymakers on the hospitable and charming Jomtien Beach, relaxing in the reclining chairs with large parasols and small tables placed around them. Some tourists prefer to chill-out on the golden sand nearby the sea while most favour to relax a bit further back in the trees’ cool shades.

From pretty beaches, to outstanding dining & wining options and from great shopping places to numerous affordable accommodation establishments and the naughty nightlife scene, Thailand’s most popular seaside resort has it all!
