Blooming great botanical garden
Posted by admin on October 21st, 2009 filed in Entertainment, Lifestyling, just visitingWhether you’ve green fingers or not, Nong Nooch Tropical Botanical Garden is wonder that is sure to leave you with great memories. This 500-acre reserve, on Sukhumvit Road by Pattaya, has a full range of floral exhibits with French, European, Cactus and Stonehenge sections plus more.
Although the area was originally intended to be a fruit plantation, it was later developed into a wildlife conservation project with countless tropical flowers.
The obvious focus of the garden is on Southeast Asian varieties but there are some stunning central African and tropical American species of Cycads also. The garden serves as a crucial service for ancient and endangered plants so it is possible to see flowers here that have otherwise been lost from the face of the earth. One of the only other places in SE Asia where we’ve seen such lovely flowers is Singapore Botanical Gardens.
And a gene-bank, managed by world expert Mr Anders J. Lindstrom, helps to preserve these fragile specimens so they can be enjoyed for generations to come. But there is much more than blooms to keep people here entertained. There are also religious ceremonies, massages, martial arts demonstrations, and elephant shows on offer.
Plus if you feel a slight peckish the two restaurants will restore your energy plus youngster will love visiting the animals in the small zoo. If you can’t get enough during just a day then book into the hotel or rent one of the traditional Thai- style houses dotted around the grounds.
