Don’t Miss Nakhon Pathom

Located just a short drive from Pattaya, the small, slightly sleepy town of Nakhon Pathom features a wide range of sights of ancient and religious significance. The town’s accessibility and range of interesting and unusual sites that taking a trip here an attractive proposition.
Located in the very heart of the town, Phra Pathom Chedi is perhaps the province’s biggest attraction. The chedi is 127 metres tall and said to be the biggest Buddhist monument in the world. Other interesting temples include Wat Rai Khing with its large monastery and Wat Phra Mayn.

Another interesting area is the huge Phra Phuttamonthon Park, which features a 15.8 metre high statue, said to be the tallest in the world. The park is extremely beautiful and a great place for a walk. There are huge lizards to discover as well as rivers full of hungry fish and stunning bamboo forests.

While in the area, check out the Wat Lamphaya Floating Market, whilst The Rose Garden with its cultural shows is a popular tourist attraction. Just one kilometre from The Rose Garden, the Samphran Elephant Ground and Zoo is an interesting way to spend an hour or two.

But the fun doesn’t end there. Nakhon Pathom Province contains a wide range of attractions to entertain visitors. Worth checking out is the Ancient City of Kamphaeng Saen, where you can explore the interesting architectural styles and discover more about the diverse history of this area.

The nearby Thai Soang village is home to the traditional Thai Dam people, while the Thai Human Imagery Museum is another way to discover the area’s history and culture. Another interesting attraction is the Thai Farmers’ Lifestyle Museum, where you can see displays of tools used by the Thai farmers.

Located behind the Don Wai temple, the Don Wai Riverside Market is a good place to get a cheap meal and pick up a bargain or two.
Another great way to explore this area is to go on a boat tour, which can easily be booked from one of the tour operators in Pattaya.
