Exploring Si Racha, Ko Loi
Posted by Party Pete on May 27th, 2011 filed in Daytripping, sightseeingOne of the many reasons people love Pattaya is that there is a lot to do and if you feel that you need a break from the busy Pattaya city, you can take a day trip to Si Racha and then to Ko Loi. Si Racha is situated between Bangkok and Pattaya, just 45 minutes away by bus and Ko Loi, is a small island near the northern shore of Si Racha and has a bridge connecting to the mainland.
It is a popular location for relaxing and recreation. There is a flight of stairs leading to the breezy hill-top of the temple which offers delightful view of the sea.
If you are sick of the touristy feel of Pattaya, then Si Racha truly gives you an authentic view of Thailand and after 30 minutes of walking the streets of Si Racha, you will start to wonder whether you are invisible because here, people leave you alone as Si Racha is not a tourist town, but it certainly has it’s attractions.
And after a tour of Si Racha, you go to Ko Loi which is an island joined by a long bridge road, where you will visit a beautiful temple (Wat Ko Loi) and see the dozens of large turtles swimming in the nearby pond. It is also Si Racha’s pier for Koh Chang, if you plan well, from here, you can hop over to that beautiful island.
There is also a Tiger Zoo about 15 minutes by Tuk-Tuk drive from the town center and there is also a beautiful park where you can watch the sunset and many great Japanese and Korean restaurants because of the many Japanese and Koreans living in Si Racha.
So, if you want something different away from the busy touristy Pattaya, consider going to Si Racha for a day trip, it is the perfect antidote to the commercialism of Pattaya.
