Wining and dining in Little Britain
Posted by Party Pete on August 26th, 2011 filed in eatingDue to its high concentration of English and Irish pubs and restaurants, the area just back from Pattaya Beach Road centred around Soi Buakhao is known as Little Britain. Visitors can imbibe John Smith’s, Guinness or Kilkenny’s and eat home-made pies or full English breakfasts while watching comedy programme reruns and live sports on large-screen televisions.
The Butcher’s Arms is a quintessential English pub which could have been lifted straight out of central London and dropped down into Soi Buakhao. It serves a good range of draught ales and lagers, bottled beers and spirits and also provides late night revellers the chance of a morning after breakfast until 16:00. The diverse food menu offers gourmands anything from steak pies to lamb curries and, on Sundays, traditional roasts with Yorkshire puddings and stuffing.
Other restaurants on the strip include Sweetheart’s Bar and Guesthouse where draught Carlsberg and a range of tasty Thai and English snacks and meals ensure the pub has a regular clientele. The bar also has a pool table, current UK newspapers and shows live Premiere League football. Just a bit farther on the Sportsman Pub is a well-established location with an ambient atmosphere and great choice of British beers and pub grub.
