Lawn bowls in Pattaya

There are a number of 10-pin bowling alleys in Pattaya where locals and residents can play the popular game. Lawn bowls is a distant cousin of 10-pin and is an altogether more genteel sport where strength and power are not the main player requirements. The game is popular in the UK and in some southern hemisphere countries.

In Pattaya there are three venues where both novices and experienced players can have a go at lawn bowls. The Bowling Green opened first in 1999 and was followed some years later by the Retreat Bowling Club. The Coco Club Resort in Banglamung installed four indoor synthetic Astra turf rinks earlier this year.

When lawn bowls players started using the Bowling Green the sport quickly gained popularity in Pattaya. With the opening of the second venue, inter club matches soon became a part of Pattaya’s entertainment. The two facilities both have bars which permit non-playing spectators to admire the finesse of the players.

The Coco Club’s rinks allow dedicated players to play through the monsoon season, when outdoor greens would be damaged by soft ground and games abandoned when rain stopped play. The Coco Club also has two playing areas for boules.
