Indian cuisine in Pattaya
Posted by Party Pete on October 28th, 2011 filed in eatingPattaya has to be one of the most cosmopolitan seaside resorts in the world and offers an eclectic range of dining options to boot. Fans of aromatic and spicy curries and other delicacies from the Indian Subcontinent will find that Thailand’s favourite seaside town has an abundance of eateries serving them. Archetypal northern and southern region dishes can be found as well as a full range of naan breads, chapatis and snacks such as bhajis.
It would be impossible to list all the restaurants that serve Indian gastronomy, so I have chosen a couple of my personal favourites. Ali Baba is one of the more popular locations and is sited on Pattaya Klang Road close to the Nova Lodge. Diners eat in an authentically furnished setting where menu items include samosas, tandoori prawn, biryani, garlic naan, aloo gobi and delicious gulab jamun desserts.
Sher e Punjab is on Beach Road beside Mike’s Shopping Centre where the emphasis is on northern Indian cuisine for gourmands. Mushroom bhajis, chicken tikka masala, shish kebabs and chana masala are among the speciality items here. Thappraya Road’s Indian by Nature serves a mix of dishes from various Indian states which are complemented by an extensive wine list and background sitar music.
